Hit-Boy and The Alchemist Set Date for ‘Goldfish’ Album and Short Film Drop

Two of hip-hop’s most respected producers, The Alchemist and Hit-Boy, are teaming up for a rare joint release — and they’re not coming lightly. The duo just announced Goldfish, a collaborative album set to drop on October 24, accompanied by a short film of the same name starring none other than Danny Trejo.

The project isn’t just a fusion of two heavyweights — it’s a meeting of legacies. The Alchemist, a longtime staple in the underground and East Coast scenes, has laced tracks for legends like Mobb Deep, Fat Joe, Jadakiss, and Ghostface Killah. On the other side, Hit-Boy has made his mark with a more mainstream reach, producing hits for A$AP Rocky, Kendrick Lamar, Nas, and many more. Calling them “talented” doesn’t quite cover it — these are two of the most influential producers of their eras.

While their solo résumés are stacked, this isn’t the first time they’ve crossed creative paths. In 2024, they dropped the three-track THEODORE & ANDRE EP, along with Black & Whites — the latter featuring a guest appearance from Hit-Boy’s father, Big Hit. They also teamed up behind the boards to co-produce Benny The Butcher’s Everybody Can’t Go, his major label debut on Def Jam Recordings. Most recently, in July 2025, The Alchemist released the critically acclaimed Alfredo 2 with longtime collaborator Freddie Gibbs — further cementing his legendary run.

Now, with Goldfish, they’re raising the stakes. The short film — as reported by HipHopDX — will follow “a squad of hit men disguised as carpet cleaners attempting to leave a life of crime in a chaotic flurry of events.” With Danny Trejo involved, the narrative promises to be just as gritty and compelling as the beats.

The rollout kicked off with “Business Merger” on September 30, a standout single paired with an Isaac Garcia-directed visual. Trading confident rhymes over regal horns and dusty drums, both Alchemist and Hit-Boy flex not just behind the boards, but on the mic — rapping over each other’s production in a way that fans haven’t seen before.
